AC/DC are an Australian rock band, formed in 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. Although the band are commonly classified as hard rock and are considered a pioneer of heavy metal, they have always classified their music as rock and roll. To date they are one of the highest grossing bands of all time. AC/DC underwent several line-up changes before releasing their first album, High Voltage, in 1975. Membership remained stable until bassist Mark Evans was replaced by Cliff Williams in 1978 for the album Powerage. Within months of recording the album Highway to Hell, lead singer and co-songwriter Bon Scott died on 19 February 1980, after a night of heavy alcohol consumption. The group briefly considered disbanding, but Scott's parents urged them to continue and hire a new vocalist. Ex-Geordie singer Brian Johnson was auditioned and selected to replace Scott. Later that year, the band released their highest selling album, Back in Black. Family Jewels is a two disc compilation DVD by AC/DC, featuring the group's music videos, live clips and promotional videos from 1975 to 1991. It was released by Sony Entertainment on 28 March 2005. The first disc contains videos from the Bon Scott era (1975-1980), such as the band's first TV appearance and a performance on television ten days before Scott died. The second disc contains material from the Brian Johnson era (1980-1991) such as the videos for Back in Black. This is only sound extracted from the videos.

Adrian Gurvitz is an English singer, musician and songwriter. Gurvitz is mostly known for the 1982 worldwide hit ballad "Classic". This is in total contrast to his first chart success in 1968, as the lead guitarist/singer with the band, The Gun. The Gun's only UK Singles Chart success was "Race With The Devil". A song that was revived in the early 80s by a cover version from female hard rock band, Girlschool. Although billed as a "psychedelic/crossover" band, "Race With The Devil" saw The Gun succeed with an experiment based on a mixture of orchestration and hard rock. Gurvitz was also the lead guitarist in the band Three Man Army, (together with his brother Paul Gurvitz). Their album, Third Of A Lifetime (1971), predominantly featured a selection of hard-driven blues tracks such as "Butter Queen", but also featured the melodic instrumental title track. Adrian Gurvitz also recorded on a 1973 album with Buddy Miles. After Three Man Army split, the Gurvitz brothers teamed up with Ginger Baker to form The Baker Gurvitz Army. They released the albums Baker Gurvitz Army (1974), Elysian Encounter (1975) and Hearts on Fire (1976), on which they added vocalist Snips from the band Sharks. After this they joined with Graeme Edge for two albums for Threshold - Kick Off Your Muddy Boots (1975) and Paradise Ballroom (1977).

10,000 Maniacs is a United States-based alternative rock band, which formed in 1981 and continues to be active with various line-ups. The band was formed as Still Life in 1981 in Jamestown, New York, by Dennis Drew (keyboards), Steve Gustafson (bass), Chet Cardinale (drums), Robert Buck (guitar), and Teri Newhouse (Buck's ex-wife and vocalist). Gustafson invited Natalie Merchant, who was 17 at the time, to do some vocals. John Lombardo who was in a band called The Mills (along with brother guitarist/vocalists Mark Liuzzo and Paul Liuzzo and drummer Mike Young) and used to play occasionally with Still Life, was invited to join permanently on guitar and vocals. Newhouse and Cardinale left the band in July, and Merchant became the main singer. Various drummers came and left. The band changed its name to Burn Victims and then to 10,000 Maniacs after the low-budget horror movie Two Thousand Maniacs!. The Wishing Chair is the major-label debut album by 10,000 Maniacs. The album was released in 1985 by Elektra Records. Recorded in London, the album was not a commercial blockbuster, but received mostly favorable reviews and brought the band more visibility than their previous independent releases had. A live concert video of "Scorpio Rising" was produced and received a moderate amount of airplay on MTV.

Beat-styled harmony-pop group from Texas, formed in 1980 while attending a Dallas area high school. They gigged at all the punk/new wave clubs in the area. Terry Tutor (all guitars, piano and vocals), Larry Tutor (bass guitar, vocals) and Robert Dill (drums, glockenspiel, vocals). The band recorded this stuff in the early 80's and the whole "'64-'67" thing is a parody/homage to '60s garage band rock. The band is still active in Los Angeles as The Bordersnakes.
